After four years serving on the board of Southern Magic, Inc., the Birmingham Chapter of Romance Writers of America, I’m taking a step down…or up? I can’t really decide how to say it, I just know that it felt good to serve, but it also feels good to have freedom from the responsibilities. I’m still a member of this fine organization, but this year I won’t have to skip my family reunions in order to conduct chapter business. ( I’ve missed my big ole crazy family.)
I’m grateful for the awesome new team that’s in place to take the helm and lead Southern Magic well. Thank you in advance for your service.
Joining the chapter in 2012 was a major step in the right direction for accomplishing my then-goal of becoming a published author. The active members at that time were so supportive and encouraging, teaching me many things in a short time. Volunteering with the chapter put me in a position to meet many talented people and develop lasting friendships. I’m so thankful to everyone who’s encouraged me (and continues to do so) on this journey.
I’m not sure what this year holds for my writing. In the last several months, I’ve taken on more responsibility in my other job in the fitness industry and my writing time diminished. In actuality, my priorities changed. This doesn’t mean that I will never write again. I have two series with completed manuscripts in the rough draft stages. I’ve also started writing an inspirational romance which reflects my faith walk. I’m eager to see how God will work through me this year.
For now, I’ll keep taking steps on this path of life and see where He leads. It’s freeing to let go.
