Carols and songs are part of getting into the spirit of Christmas around our house. The only rule we have is we don’t start listening until after Thanksgiving.
I love the classics, but I also enjoy hearing newer artist’s interpretations. Here are a few of my favorites.
CLASSICS
Elvis– Blue Christmas and Silver Bells
Frank Sinatra–O Come All Ye Faithful &
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.
Bing Crosby– I’ll Be Home For Christmas and White Christmas
COUNTRY
Brad Paisley– Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy
Darius Rucker– Candy Cane Christmas
Lady Antebellum– Baby, It’s Cold Outside
POP
Mariah Carey/Justin Bieber– All I Want For Christmas Is You
Wham– Last Christmas
Rihanna– I Just Don’t Feel Like Christmas Without You
ALTERNATIVE
Death Cab for Cutie– Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
Jack Johnson– Rudolph
Snow Patrol– When I Get Home For Christmas
There are enough songs to keep us going from now until Three Kings’ Day. I hope your holidays are full of joyful music.
What songs help you celebrate the season?
One of my favorite Christmas songs is a song my sister and I learned for a Christmas play. It was called ” In a Lowly Manger” I’ve never seen it written down or heard it sung except when my sister and I sang it. So I don’t know if it was written especially to that play or if it was and old world ballad or what but singing that song even today fills my heart with joy.
That’s such a sweet memory. Thanks for sharing.
