Biting The Bullet

Meda White

It’s time to lace up my boot straps and start blogging. Receiving this belated Christmas gift in the mail was just the kick in the pants I needed. It’s my new belt buckle but the message was clear: Stop procrastinating, Bite the Bullet.

In 2012, I wrote three novels of 50k words or greater and started several others. I am currently editing, entering contests, writing synopses, and query letters in an attempt to get published. For some reason, starting my own blog has been a little…make that a lot…intimidating.

I suppose one of my favorite characters sums it up like this: “…unwilling to speak, unless we expect to say something that will amaze the whole room…” ~Elizabeth Bennet, Pride and Prejudice

I guess I was waiting for something amazing to say. When I read other author’s blogs, they seem to have it all together. I have to remind myself that one day gone by, they sat where I do today—fingers poised over the keyboard hoping their words would impress or at least not go completely unnoticed.

Everyone is talking about New Year’s Resolutions and blogging is one of mine. So here I am, biting the blogging bullet. I hope I don’t break a tooth.

I would love to hear from other bloggers about their early days with blogging. Were you scared to death or did biting the bullet come easier for you than it did for me?

  1. Congratulations! You’ve got it all together. Last year, my resolution was to quit blogging! But this year I restarted. Your quotation from P&P sums up my sense of it. The hardest part to me is discovering a theme, or a unifying purpose.

    1. Hi Chris- I agree with you about discovering a theme. I’m sure my thoughts will be really random for a while. Maybe random can be my theme? Thanks for stopping by.
